Profile

I finished my undergraduate degree at U. C. Berkeley. My Master's and PhD were both done at Pacific Graduate School of Psychology (now Palo Alto University). My orientation toward treatment is problem-focused, using a Cognitive-Behavioral model, designed to increase the individual's ability to cope with presenting difficulties and to reduce and manage negative symptoms.

I have been in practice in California as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist since 1983 and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1979. I specialize in brief, cognitively-oriented therapy of adolescents, adults, and couples. I have sub-specialties in Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (Critical Incident stress Debriefing; Critical Incident Response Certified), Chemical Dependency, and custody-related issues with post-divorce families.

I am a past president and Forensics Chair of the San Mateo County Psychological Association. I am a Founding Member of Pacific Graduate School of Psychology, and a former Board Member of P.G.S.P.'s Board of Trustees. I was in private practice in San Mateo County from 1979 until 2009 and was on the admitting staff of Mills-Peninsula Hospital from 1984 until 2009. Until their closures, I was on the admitting staffs of Charter Hospital in San Jose and CPC Belmont Hills, in Belmont. During those same years I was a member of the American Red Cross Crisis Team and and was utilized by FEMA (L.A. earthquakes) and major banks and airlines debriefing staff members following traumatic incidents. For several years, I proudly worked with the California Army National Guard assisting soldiers deploying to and returning from combat. In recent years, I have become more involved with Senior Citizens and their specific issues and needs. I have many psychiatrist colleagues and am able to refer you to someone if the need for medication should present itself.
